i bought a shirt for a friend and it says mps on it underneath the tapout logo..it was only about $15 and i got it at JC Pennys..is it an imitation?
Tapout is the company and MPS is the first 3 letters of their nicknames. Mask, Punkass and Skyscrape.
whats the difference between tapout shirts and mps tapout?
What city in the Northeast United States has the worst sprawl?
In northeast I would include everything from like DC north and I guess the Great Lakes. I wonder because in the country it’s most likely to be in the Southwest or something, but I wonder about up here…
It’s a tough question for a couple of reasons–
1) how to define & measure sprawl
2) how to draw boundaries around one city’s sprawl–in the Northeast, where one city’s sprawl spills into the next city’s. Technically, are we looking at MSAs or CMSAs?
Without being too long-winded, I would guess Hartford and WDC as the sprawlingest cities. The USA Today article below has a good comprehensive list with a relatively simple measure (they place Rochester, NY first in the region). The smartgrowthamerica article (PDF) has a more complex analysis.
What does a win over Henderson mean for Rich Franklin?
Where will a win put Franklin in the light heavyweight title picture?
It means he will get a top 5 fighter in his next fight. Most likely Rampage, Rashad, Forrest or Shogun. Rampage and Forrest will get an immediate title shot if they beat their respective opponents, but Rashad won’t get a rematch that quickly. I think most likely, Franklin will fight Rashad (if he can beat Rampage) or the loser of Machida/Shogun
I want to train in Mixed Martial Arts at a local place, how do I tell my parents?
I want to train in Mixed Martial Arts at a local place, how do I tell my parent I want to train in Mixed Martial Arts at a local brazilian jiu-jitsu place. Luckily, its only about 3 blocks away. How do I tell my parents I want to take something that involves fighting? It’s not a money issue it’s just that I don’t want my parents to think I’m some type of crazy obsessed kid with fighting. I mean I’ve always liked fighting throughout my life even when I was a little kid and they know that. They laugh because my grandpa loves doing that stuff too but how do I tell them? My parents are usually pretty relaxed about things but I want a non-awkward way to tell them. Thank you for any suggestions!
triswmn20k, so are you saying at the local place that teaches bjj and mma to first take bjj and then after a while start learning mma? how long do you think it would take to become adept in bjj? thanks for the information, your a great help.
just tell them you want to train to get a little fitter and learn some self defense in case something comes up. also tell them that it will teach you self defense and respect.
What would be a good kickboxing workout for a teenage girl?
I am a 17 year old that is into kickboxing, but i don’t really have the time to go and get into a class. I also don’t have the money to do it. I need help on a good workout for me for kickboxing. I am a beginner still and don’t have much of the things that may be needed. Any help?
I have a very busy schedule, so it needs to be somehow worked around that if it is possible. If not, it’s ok.
Well you could get a punching bag and hit that. If not try shadow boxing. Just stand in a spot and box the air basically. It will raise heart rate so its good cardio.
Does anyone train or know a classical jujitsu school that has evolved to include all grappling techniques?
Does anyone else train in a japanese jujitsu school that has added all the modern grappling techniques? The school I go to teaches all kinds of grappling from the rubber guard to brazilian techniques. The school competes against the brazilian based schools all the time. Is this becoming more common or is my school rare?
Its probably becoming more common.
In my experience all styles of the martial arts evolve. Some progress faster than others.
Kung Fu is the only style I can think of that has remains the same through the lifetime of the Master of an individual school. I have seen everything else change. Kick-boxing now seems to include Thai Boxing. Karate teaches a "freestyle" stance that looks like a boxer. Even Judo changed a bit when Japan first added it as their nominal sport for the Olympics. I don’t know if it will be a permanent Olympic sport, but the point playing is part of the style now.
What is that punch Chuck Liddell always throws?
What is that crazy looking punch that Chuck Liddell always throws? It seems to have alot of power and looks like it goes up and then down to the left.
Drunk Hillbilly overhand.
Is it acceptable to wear clothes from the sponsers of cage fighting if your not a cage fighter yourself?
I like some of the clothes that they have out now that are sponsers of cage fighting or shirts that would be considered "cage fighter" clothing, but I am not one myself. I know this is a dumb question and I shouldn’t worry about it but I have always hated posers and would not want to be considered a poser by people if I am wearing clothing that is directed towards cage fighting but like I said. I hate posing as something that I am not but I like the style of the clothes.
Just wear what you like for goodness sakes, do you REALLY care what people think of you? If you do then you should consider thinking about people with real problems.
At which stage in my pregnancy should I give up my lucrative career as a cage fighter?

Correct me if I’m wrong VALE TUDO is a mix of these martial arts?
Now correct me if i’m wrong from what I understand VALE TUDO is a mix between Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Now I live in the Los Angeles area and I would like to know if anyone knows of a school or academy where VALE TUDO taught. Thank You.
Vale tudo is not a martial art, or a fighting style. It’s a mma fight competition in brazil. Vale tudo in portuguese means anything goes, so the rules are even more flexible than those of pride fighting (they fight bareknuckle, they allow headbutts, strikes to downed opponents, groin strikes) literally ANYTHING goes. This type of tournament is what Wanderlei Silva has fought for years, that’s why he is so dominant (with the exception of his last 2 losses to 2 AWESOME fighters), I haven’t seen a school that teaches Vale Tudo type of mma fighting, but a good mma school would be very close, specially if they have brazilian instructors (they would definetely know about vale tudo)
